How to Create an Avatar

Post by SheltiePlanet » Sun Nov 14, 2010 9:57 pm

An avatar is an image that appears next to your name when you post.
<------- Here's mine

An avatar helps other members quickly recognize you. Most people use a picture of their Sheltie(s) or themselves. You can change it as often as you want.

How to Create an Avatar

1. Click on the little person icon (top right) which says your username when you hover over it
2. Click on the Profile tab (upper tab)
3. Click on Edit Avatar (on the left)
4. Click the Choose File button to upload the image from your computer
5. Once the photo appears, click Submit

PLEASE NOTE - The maximum file size of an avatar is 150 x 150 pixels. If your photo is too big, you can resize it in Windows Live Photo Gallery, or there's a free tool I often use called FastStone Image Viewer which is great for quickly fixing up photos: http://download.cnet.com/FastStone-Image-Viewer/3000-2192_4-10324485.html

Looking forward to see your pics!

Hello I am new to your site, My name is Michelle and I tried to upload a picture of my Sheltie. Her name is Maggie and she is 7 yrs. old. She is a rescue dog to us and we love her dearly. She's a wonderful dog we've had her for 3 yrs. If you could help me with the picture I'd appreciate it.

Thank You
Michelle & Maggie

Hi Michelle and Maggie - welcome!

Avatars have to be small as they go in the margin next to your name. I resized this photo of Maggie for you, to fit the 150 x 150 pixel requirement. I've attached it here.

All you need to do now is right click on the new image and save it to your computer as "sheltie avatar" or something memorable, then upload it as your new avatar as per the instructions above.

Let me know if you run into any problems... and welcome to our forums. ;)

Becky,

Thank You so much for your help. I do believe that I was able to upload the picture of Maggie now.
I'm looking forward to reading and meeting a lot of other Sheltie people.

Thanks again

Sure, here you go!
Right click and "Save Image" (or similar) to your computer, then you can upload this smaller version.
